Treelines - Let It Roll

It's time for more Treelines!  I love these guys and just found out that they'll be playing the Railway Club next Thursday night, November 25th.  Tickets are only $10 and the Railway Club is giving out free Guiness samples that night.  Seems like everything that is good and right in the world is pointing me in this direction.  I'm going to try and give away my shift at the restaurant and make my way to this show.  It's going to be damn good & I've yet to see a show here.  I'm pretty damn excited!  You should come with me!

Take a listen!

nasal spray

Good news - I don't have an ear infucktion, er, infection rather.  Nor do I have any kind of blockage.  Turns out my ear is congested, which means I have some sort of sinus cold and now I'm spraying this stuff up my nose to clear out my ear...

Wish me well!

The Russian Futurists - Hoeing Weeds Sowing Seeds

The Russian Futurists' new album hit stores this week and you can listen to the weight's on the wheels all week long on Exlaim!'s website by clicking here and scrolling to nearly the end of the page.  The first track is Hoeing Weeds Sowing Seeds and I thinks it's awesome.  I've been listening to this track for the past few weeks and I'm not afraid to tell you that I'm a bit in love with it, even though my one ear has been plugged up for almost two weeks and I keep hearing a high-pitched tone and I should probably go to the doctor to see what's up because it's probably an ear infection and I shouldn't really be so blasé about it and all.  But I digress, listen to this song, and if you love it, go listen to the whole album.  Do it!

Song of Today (and yesterday)

Melissa McClelland - Passanger 24

I didn't much feel like posting anything yesterday, and I think this song makes up for that vacancy.  I LOVE this song!  I heard it once and added it to one of my various r3 playlists and didn't listen to it again for a few weeks.  And now that I've refound it hiding in my playlist, I can't stop listening to it.  Over and over and over!  You're gonna love it - believe you me!

Straight out of Edmonton, AB coming to the Biltmore Cabaret in Vancouver, BC on December 3rd, which I might have to check out.  If for no other reason that to check out the questionable 1977 ambulance that they tour around the country in, and to maybe dance my ass off as well.

The Dudes - Girl Police

I miss seeing various members of The Dudes renting movies from me at my old video store in Calgary, or buying a latte at one of the best coffee shops that used to reside on 4th Street (The Planet - woot!). And if it weren't for my friend Patrick who included a track from these guys on a disc he made me, I wouldn't have known who they were. Thanks Patrick!

Thunderheist - Jerk It

Oh Thunderheist, how I love you so.  Unfortunatly, the duo is no longer together, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't listen to the serious electrocrunk boom bap that is Thunderheist.  This song has gotten stuck in my head more than any other song this year, so be warned - it's going to get stuck in your head too, and that a marvellous thing.  Enjoy!

A few years back, my buddy Patick lent me Rae Spoon's Throw Some Dirt On Me and I wasn't a fan.  Flash-forward a few years and I can't stop tappin' my feet and clappin' my hands to Come On Forest Fire Burn The Disco Down off the album superioryouareinferior.  I think I owe it to myself to go back and relisten to Rae's older stuff, cuz it's pretty damn great!

Vigil for queer youth suicide awareness in Emery Barnes Park last night

Roughly 500 people turned out at a rally in Vancouver's Emery Barnes Park last night calling for an end to the bullying of gay youths.  Do you notice all the purple people are wearing?  I had to work last night, otherwise I probably would've been there too.

Tokyo Police Club - Wait Up (Boots of Danger)

I don't know when it happened, but I kind of fell in love with these guys.  When I lived in Calgary I didn't pay any attention to them, they'd come play a show and I'd have no reason to check them out, and now I listen to them all the time - there've been many a day where their playlist on r3 is the only one I play all day and I don't even know when they're going to be playing another show here in Vancouver so that I can go check 'em out live.  All in good time I guess.

In the meantime, you can click here to listen to Wait Up (Boots of Danger) and see what I'm going on about!
